17 October: the recommended identity system (Codex as lead designer) is at /logo/system/. The directions below are the record of what was tried.

Aussie Jobs · logo directions

Replacements for the old Migrate 2 Oz emblem, which belongs to the previous business. Your own two May ideas are at the top for the record, and directly under them are eight directions developed from your kangaroo. Every direction keeps the name and the navy and red; what changes is the mark and how the name is set. Each is shown as the full lockup, the mark alone, and reversed on navy. Ray: scroll through, then reply on WhatsApp with the letters you like (two or three is ideal) and anything you would change. Nothing here is final until you pick.

New: your kangaroo redrawn as clean vector artwork, plus the social and web kit →

Ray's own ideas · May 2026

For the record

Before any of the directions below, these are the two marks you had ChatGPT draw on 26 May: a blue and red kangaroo with tools for Aussie Jobs, and a springbok-kangaroo with a South African flag tail for Aussiekaners. We have kept them here so nothing you said gets lost. Our view: as mascots they read as a job board or a sports club rather than a MARA-registered practice, and the Australian flag inside the kangaroo is the same device as the old Migrate 2 Oz emblem. If you want either idea kept, say so and we will draw a proper, simpler version in the navy and red rather than use the AI render.

Developed from your kangaroo · K1 to K8 · Mode (K1 to K4) and Codex (K5 to K8)

These take the kangaroo you asked for and lift it to the standard of the rest of this page. They are rendered concepts, not final artwork: whichever one you pick gets redrawn as clean vector, with a reversed version for navy backgrounds and a favicon set, before it goes anywhere near the site. No flags inside the animal, one red accent each, and the tools kept only where they earn their place.

K1 · The Bound

Mode

Your kangaroo kept whole, but reduced to one flat navy silhouette mid-leap with a single red horizon line beneath it. Nothing cartoon about it: this is the road-sign kangaroo done with the discipline of a national firm, and it works at favicon size.

K2 · The Line

Mode

The same leap drawn as one continuous line. Lighter and more refined than a solid shape; it reads like a mark a law or advisory firm would carry, while still being unmistakably a kangaroo. One red dot for the eye.

K3 · The Spanner

Mode

Closest to your original idea: the kangaroo keeps its tools. The spanner is the one red element, so the mechanic story is told in a single accent rather than a handful of drawn objects, and the animal stays a clean pictogram, not a character.

K4 · The Roundel

Mode

Head and ears only, cut out of a navy circle, red eye. Quiet, confident, and the most “established practice” of the set. A roundel like this stamps well on documents and sits easily next to a MARA number.

K5 · Working Momentum

Codex

A strong kangaroo in motion with the spanner built into the forearms, and a short red stroke under the rear foot for momentum. Codex’s take on “keep the tools”: the tool is part of the movement, not a prop.

K6 · Clear Path

Codex

A standing kangaroo drawn with one line, upright and looking forward, no tools. The red accent is a small break in the line at the chest shaped like a path. Calmer than the leaping marks; reads as guidance rather than speed.

K7 · Precision Leap

Codex

The leap revealed in white inside a solid navy disc, with the foreleg shaped like a spanner jaw on closer inspection and a small red segment on the rim pointing the direction of travel. Trustworthy, badge-like, without being busy.

K8 · Forward Signal

Codex

The kangaroo abstracted to its two ears and the arc of the hop, with a red wedge at the leading end. The furthest from a mascot: a corporate symbol that still carries the animal for anyone who looks twice.

A · The Ascent

On the site now

An "A" built from a rising chevron, with the crossbar extended into a red arrow pointing forward. Reads as a letterform first and a journey second: up and across, to Australia. Solid at any size, works as a favicon, no flags.

B · Southern Cross monogram

"AJ" set in the condensed wordmark face inside a navy badge, with the Southern Cross picked out in red along the right edge. The most obviously Australian of the three without reaching for a kangaroo or a map. Badge format suits documents, stamps and social avatars.

C · The Hex

A navy hex-nut outline with a red upward arrow inside. The nut is the quiet nod to the trades Aussie Jobs now recruits for; the arrow is the move to Australia. Reads well small, and the outline keeps it from feeling like a parts-supplier logo.

D · South-east compass

A navy ring with a red needle fixed on south-east: the bearing from the UK and South Africa to Australia. One idea, no decoration, and it still reads as a compass at favicon size.

E · Stencil badge

A navy badge with a white stencil-cut AJ and a red base bar. Workshop signage, not corporate identity: the one direction that leans into the trades without using a tool as the symbol.

H · The Workshop J

A mechanic's open-end spanner resolves into a hooked “J”, tying the recruitment name to the technicians it serves without becoming a generic tool badge. The red point at the lifted end suggests a person or job being moved into place.

K · The Benchmark

Two disciplined uprights are crossed by a single red datum, expressing rigorous assessment against a clear professional standard. The spare construction feels established and authoritative, with enough weight to remain legible at favicon size and emboss cleanly on stationery.

L · The Shortlist

A measured sequence of profiles is reduced to one distinguished red line, capturing the judgement behind a well-curated shortlist. Fine square-ended strokes and a high-contrast serif wordmark position Aussie Jobs as a selective recruitment adviser rather than a volume agency.

M · The Continuum

One uninterrupted line makes a precise transition between two levels, reflecting the carefully managed progression from first conversation to Australian appointment. The red terminal is a restrained point of arrival, while the open geometry keeps the identity formal and assured.

N · The Practice

A single red rule gives the typography a distinctive signature without competing with the name, creating the demeanour of an established advisory practice. The serif-led lockup relies on proportion, spacing and restraint, making it especially suited to correspondence, credentials and discreet embossing.

Premium tier · O to R · Mode

O · Monoline monogram

A single-weight A and J drawn as one continuous idea, with the only colour a red point where the J lifts. Wide-tracked uppercase Jost for the name, the way an executive-search firm would set it, so the mark can stay quiet.

P · Wordmark, hairline

No emblem at all: the name set wide in uppercase, a single red point between the two words, a hairline rule and the descriptor beneath. The most confident option on the page, and the one that needs the least explaining on a business card.

Q · Serif signet

Typographic tier · S to V · Codex, wordmark and monogram systems only

S · Shared Stem

A custom A and J share one structural stroke, turning the initials into a precise typographic ligature rather than a separate emblem. The restrained red joint identifies the point of connection and remains legible when embossed or reduced to 16px.

T · The Incision

U · Editorial Stack

AUSSIE is set in a light, widely spaced line above a compact serif JOBS, creating authority through proportion and weight rather than ornament. The accompanying stacked AJ follows the same hierarchy, with one fine red register line holding the two levels together.

V · Counterform

Z · The Joined Initials
